Information for Prospective Graduate Students
The information provided
on this web page
must be used in conjunction with those contained in the graduate
section of the General Catalog. Graduate students must keep current on
changes made each year in the graduate program, both at the
departmental and university levels. The ultimate responsibility to
comply with all departmental and university requirements rests with the

Application and Admission Procedures
Apply
online(preferred) or print off an application and send to the Office of Graduate Studies, B-356 ASB, Brigham Young University,
Provo, Utah 84602. A non-refundable fee of $50 is required. The Letter
of Intent, which is to be included with the application, must
explicitly state the applicant's field of interest and career goals. In
addition, the applicant must furnish Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical sections). All of these
materials must be received before an application will be considered.

Admission is
normally granted for Fall Semester only, (Physical Education - Pedagogy applicants
are admitted in Summer only). Applications must be submitted, along
with GRE scores, by February 1 in order to receive full consideration
for admission and awarding of financial aid. Applications submitted by
February 1 will normally be acted on by March 15.

Each application
must be approved by the review committee of the specialization to which
the prospective graduate student is applying.

Students should not
obtain all three academic degrees (BS, MS, PhD) from BYU.

Acceptance Criteria Applications must be complete and
available in the department files prior to February 1 in order for
students to be considered for graduate study, financial aid, and
teaching and research assistantships. Applications will not be
considered until the GRE scores for the General Test are included in
the student's file. -
Students must begin their graduate program
in the Fall
Semester, (Summer for Physical Education - Pedagogy), unless prior approval of the
Graduate Coordinator is obtained. -
Students will be
assigned to either
regular degree seeking or provisional status, depending upon the
evaluation of material submitted in the application.

Financial Aid
Several sources of financial aid are
available to
graduate students in the Department. These include teaching
assistantships, research assistantships, tuition and fee awards, and
